Our Standards
All of our students and instructors are required to adhere to our standards detailed below.
Our Standards
Attire
Bloch or Capezio are preferred brands. Shop Melbourne Dancewear locally, Discount Dance online, or at your preference. Please note that the students will need to purchase nude tights for performances, but costumes will be borrowed from Garden Dance, Inc. Costumes will be age appropriate and tasteful.
All male students (regardless of level) should wear black dance pants, black t-shirt and canvas ballet shoes (ballet) or barefeet (contemporary)
- Hair: Students must have hair in a bun for ballet. Pony tail, braid or bun are acceptable for contemporary and workshops
- Accessories: Students must limit accessories to stud earrings (no watches, bracelets, necklaces, decorative clips, etc. as these pose a hazard to the dancer and the class)
- Ballet: pink tights, canvas ballet shoes, black leotard and skirt of choice
- Contemporary: pink tights and black dance shorts OR black leggings, black leotard, a black tank top/t-shirt can be worn over if preferred – barefoot/foot Undeez/lyrical shoes as preferred
- Workshop/Rehearsal: pink tights and black dance shorts OR black leggings, black leotard, (with black tank top/t-shirt if preferred)
Music
- Never any expletives
- Never any innuendos or suggestive language
- Themes will be age appropriate
- Classical, Worship, Children’s, Christian, Instrumental, Musical Theater, Pop, Hip-Hop, or Rap music may be used – but only those which meet the above requirements
Movement
- Never any provocative movement
- Always appropriate for the individual’s age and experience
Instructors
- Will always be well trained in the style they intend to teach
- Will always have expressed faith in Jesus as their Lord and Savior
Environment
- Discussion between students, parents and instructors should always be rooted in encouragement
- The tearing down of students will not be tolerated
- Students with concerns about the organization or its students are encouraged to first express that concern to their parent, who is encouraged to share that concern with the Director, should it warrant further care
Auditions/Placement
- All dancers progress at unique rates
- Production: Students will be placed in the role deemed best for them based on the Director’s experience and understanding of the students’ ability
- Classes: Students will be progressed through the levels of classes (as they are created) deemed best for them based on the Director’s experience and understanding of the students’ ability, joined with the recommendation of that student’s instructor (if other than director)
- The Director will make these decisions carefully and with the students’ best interest at heart, communicating changes as they occur.
Our Class Schedule
Our schedule is posted, and we are excited to raise up dancers who are passionate for the Kingdom of God. Enroll your student as early as you can, because spots fill quickly!
